  •  Drinking alcohol.
  •  Some genetic factors.
  • Taking certain medications, such as tamoxifen, steroids, beta-blockers, diuretics, estrogen hormone therapy, birth control pills, and antipsychotics.
  • Lack of exercise.

Tips for treating high triglycerides


 High triglycerides can be treated by following the following tips and guidelines:

Weight loss: Studies have shown that losing 5-10% of body weight may reduce triglycerides by 40 milligrams per deciliter.

Reducing sugar intake: Excess sugar in the diet is converted into triglycerides, which increases triglyceride levels in the blood, as studies have shown that people who eat at least 25% of the daily calories from sugar have an increased risk of death due to heart disease. People who eat less than 10% of their calories from sugar, and the American Heart Association recommends eating no more than 6-9 teaspoons of sugar a day.

Increase your fiber intake: Fiber is found in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and some nuts and legumes. Increasing fiber in the diet reduces the absorption of fats and sugar in the small intestine, which may help reduce triglycerides in the blood.
